By downloading, installing, or using SQRL ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Description of Service

SQRL is a privacy-first QR code scanner and generator application for iOS and Android. The app provides QR code scanning, URL safety verification, tracker parameter stripping, QR code generation, and encrypted local scan history.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use SQRL. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.

3. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Use SQRL for any unlawful purpose
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
Attempt to circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
Use the app to create or distribute malicious QR codes
Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the app

4. Free and Pro Tiers

SQRL Free includes basic scanning functionality with a limit of 5 scans per day. SQRL Pro unlocks unlimited scans, advanced features, and is available as:

Monthly subscription: €3.99/month
Annual subscription: €29.99/year
Lifetime purchase: €79.99 one-time

All paid plans include a 7-day free trial. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's app store settings.
Refunds are handled according to the policies of Apple or Google, as applicable.
The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase that does not renew.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

SQRL is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

The app will detect all phishing, malware, or malicious URLs
All tracking parameters will be identified and removed
The app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure
URL safety ratings are 100% accurate

SQRL is a tool to help you make informed decisions about QR codes. It does not replace your own judgment when visiting websites or sharing information.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SQRL and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for SQRL Pro in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.

8. Privacy

Your use of SQRL is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle (and don't handle) your data.

9. Intellectual Property

SQRL, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. The SQRL name, logo, and visual identity are trademarks of their respective owners.

10. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of SQRL at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of SQRL after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
